We are waiting at the airport: young and mature, with different cultural and religious backgrounds, professions, languages and social positions. All look happy: some have won the battle with serious health conditions, some with destructive habits and dependency… The couples are holding their hands in solidarity… Happy kids’ voices around… we are waiting for our dear guest from faraway… The arguments and disagreements are just not important any more, we are happy to unite whatever our individual opinions are…
Whom are we celebrating?
The fourth visit of an Asian spiritual leader Prabhu Darmayasa to the Maltese Islands has imprinted in the mind of many people of different nationalities living in Malta, lots of questions and answers. Who is this man with such an influential presence? What brings him here from faraway Indonesia? And how did he manage to create this field of openness, trust and love in just 2 weeks of his European trip?
Acharya Prabhu Darmayasa, the president of the Divine Love Society in Indonesia, is a Kundalini Master, expert on ancient scriptures and the author of over 30 books on the spiritual knowledge. Through his own way of being, he is teaching others how the power of sincere and selfless contribution experience can lead into the real fulfilment of life: “When our heart is purified, the Divine Grace will descend upon us”. His intent and presentation touches the hearts of everyone in his surroundings.
What is attracting people towards him? The sincerity of his presence is just irresistible! The smiles and the lightness of being flowing wherever he is. I asked him, how can we build that quality of sincerity in ourselves? He answered: “no other formula exists than by being genuine, having faith and trust in the Divine and yourself… For absolute sincerity, the only fearlessness is enough... uncompromising purity of total sincerity creates naked courage... When you're ready to lose everything, or when you have nothing to lose, you're breathing the authenticity, freely expressing yourselves...”
However, how do we achieve this quality in the life stream of traumatic experiences: being hurt, failure in life expectations, and fear of being open? How do we heal these life injuries?
His healing has started from his attitude. He is treating everyone as if they have already achieved the quality for greatness that is in every one of us. “It is in essence a sincere desire to make others' lives easier or more pleasant”. In the Vedic tradition it’s call Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of heart, to love all, to serve all.
During the healing process, you actually feel that Prabhu is somehow restoring the connection between your being and your authentic self. In a moment, you feel: this is the real you! It is reminding the feelings of childhood – sweet and blissful - entering your heart and you want to hug the world.
His giving becomes an expression of his genuine concern for the interest of others. His sincerity comes from the heart and creates the field of love and possibilities where everyone is welcome, everyone will be fed and served according to their needs!
I ask Prabhu Darmayasa, what is his credo in life?
“Do not hurt people’s feelings and take in life any opportunity to make the others happy.”
From his upbringing and point of view, he is saying – to be able to meet the Divine we need to be happy in our hearts. If we are hurting others, we are closing for them these opportunities, and later receiving the result of our action...
Whatever you do or say, it is vital to mean to do or say it and to back it up with your beliefs. Prabhu is encouraging us to change your beliefs from the negative state into the positive vibes. “At least do not repeat it in sound or in your mind.”
Simply repeat the number - you can choose from 1 to 9. Do not change it and through this repetition build up the connection. All day our mind is automatically thinking mostly useless, even self-destructive, sentences. According to the modern science, it is programming our being and the reality of our life. Than we receiving the unhappy results of it and surprised: I am doing good! Why it is happening to me?!
The mind is the remote control. “To do good things with the negative mind is to create the opposite effect of this goodness,” he said. “The food you prepared with anger can be poison”...
It was interesting to hear from the representative of the ancient Vedic tradition, most diseases and failure, problems we attracted through our mind, consciously or subconsciously. This vision is clear and reflects the discovery of modern psychology, based on Jung, Maslow and Abraham’s theories. Greek philosopher, Pythagoras, spoke:"The world is built upon the power of numbers." The other great wise man, Plato, declared:"Numbers are the highest degree of knowledge. It is knowledge itself”.
Sometimes we are placed in a situation that requires us to offer compliments or to express our opinions, Prabhu is preaching: “Choose things about people which are good. List at least three things, which you know to be good about that person and develop your speech around these good points. This will help you to speak genuinely and from the heart”.
This sincerity is motivating! Some time the sound of this knowledge is trivial for the ears… however, refreshing the heart.
“Always seek the good in you, in others and in situations. Try to place yourself in the other person's shoes to see where they are coming from… train your mind this way creates a positive human attitude, based on true compassion, honesty and real life-value”.
“When negative connotations arise, use the meditation technique to override the negatives and try to find the best in any situation. Sincerity thrives on effort to think the right way.”
“Be hospitable and lack material neediness. Simplify your life!”
This sincerity is motivating! Some time the sound of this knowledge is trivial for the ears… however, it is refreshing the heart and reminding about our high human consciousness, do not be involve into the Ego games.
During the extraordinary time of his visit we received this knowledge:
Sincerity is when you are open to having others in your life and when you do not feel a need to compare yourself with what others have and what you do not. Dependence on material neediness destroys the ability to be sincere because we focusing on protecting our possessions and aiming to accumulate more instead of looking outwards into the human community around us. Learn to let go of the artificial neediness and learn to open your heart to people and your community. In that way, sincerity will become your second nature.
Trust yourself and appreciate your being.
Realise that most of feeling safe is about trusting yourself. You can be assured that most people—especially those close to you—will hurt you occasionally. Be ready to forgive and get over it as quickly as you can.
Be trustworthy. Be the sort of individual who can be trusted. Be honest, no matter what. Be discreet. Keep agreements. Keep personal shared information personal and private.
Speak from your heart. Learn to communicate effectively and powerfully, yet gently.
No attacks, no accusations—everything can be said with grace. Speak using "I feel" statements. We all tend to listen more intently if a soft and gentle tone is used.
“To see the difference between you and others, first you have to see that you are equal to others”.
Learn to trust. Believe in yourself and appreciate yourself enough to be able to dismiss the hurtful words. Discuss your boundaries when you are calm. Include the Divine presence in your discussion.
Work from your heart. Dedicate your action into the field of Love, not only for the results. Practice Seva, a spiritual practice of dedication into the service as a process of self-awareness. Take responsibility to keep this vibe and do the best for your success in it.
These are some comments by people who had the pleasure of meeting Prabhu Darmayasa in his previous visits and trying the Number Meditation technique:
“Meeting with this man tunes hearts into the perception necessary to recognise the truth and to feel safe to accept it, and to believe it from your heart.”
“This is beyond words, beyond thoughts…but it brings an inner peace, an inner joy, an inner stillness…”
“A transcendental experience. I am deeply grateful.”
With gratitude, we have said goodbye to Prabhu Darmayasa. Until the next visit, next lesson, next discovery…
