Pawl Carbonaro is currently presenting his latest exhibition, ‘Voyager’, at Studio 104. Fine Art Space. The exhibition is a rare and exclusive solo exhibition of his recent works.

Voyager is the title and inspiration for the vibrant and expressive abstract works. Carbonaro is also promoting the official opening of Studio 104, a contemporary fine art space that is embarking on the journey towards Valletta being Europe’s City Of Culture in 2018.

From his serene rooftop studio, filled with natural light and open sea views, Carbonaro continues to paint daily. The studio is filled with canvases in various transitional states and the rich aroma of turpentine and other arts paraphernalia.

Working on several canvases at a time is a methodology that fulfils Carbonaro's instinctive process. A canvas may ‘rest’ for several months at a time before the artist returns to it with vigour and urgency, or perhaps to make a single brush stroke.

Carbonaro’s love of travel and his life experiences transcend into the pictorial space through his lyrical mark making; each mark is followed by the next, innate with life, following the direction of the previous, fast, vibrant and expressive. The hue’s are ‘selected’ instinctively, ‘chosen’ throughout this autonomous process.

The result is a sophisticated composition, filled with emotion and light and most importantly, Carbonaro’s academia, which skilfully glides and guides him, leaving his signature ‘White Space’ that grounds, holds or allows the abstract composition to ‘float’ the painterly marks and thus produce works of the highest level.
