Rules, rules and more rules….
Come, sit with me. We need to sit down and talk. Talk about our beloved Salott and what goes on in there. Yes, of course that is what we, or perhaps Readers, you say I, Shayze, normally do, but needs must and this has to be done. I have noticed that Admin, Moira in particular, is picked on for deleting posts. It seems to me that what is normally a discussion post, is moved The Salott, as it should be. It is only after many warnings, that posts which have no place in The Salott (or Are You Being Served for that matter) are deleted. Last week many posted requests which should have been posted in RUBS sister pages.
RUBS was created to give us the lowdown on service in general. Anything pertaining to travel should go to Rubs Travel, food in The Kcina, pets and animals in Rubs Puppy Love and so on and so forth. The way to go about this is to read the rules. If we all read the rules we will be helping Admin, who in turn, help us. There, was that so difficult? I think not. Perhaps, as we are still in January, we can add this to our New Year’s Resolutions. For those who say they have not made any, do this, for the sake of our beloved Salott. And the wonderfully hardworking and patient Administrators who run it.
The Salott was up and running in July of 2012, after RUBS had grown so much. We needed more room. The Kcina is always full of goodies and tips for healthy eating, so much so, that RUBS Beauty Health and Fitness was recently opened, as our Kcina was bursting at the seams. We have a room adjoining the Salott for those wanting a good read, The Kamra Tal Books, and for those wishing to find more room by way of a flat, house, office or even holiday home have Rubs property. The only posts which don’t have space or place in these rooms should be put on your timeline. Each of us had their own Facebook page, so if you want to advertise, or sell something, there is the place to put it. Perhaps we could clean the Salott up. Spring will soon be in the air, so we might as well gear up for it!
Naturally, there are always those who take advantage of the goodness which is there, ripe for the picking in The Salott. Some, like a guy who posted asking if there was anyone who could help, as he was alone with a baby and had run out of nappies, was doing it for a laugh. I mean, who, in her right mind would leave a man alone without a bagful of nappies and all the other paraphernalia a baby needs. Before you accuse me of being sexist, there is many a man who looks after a baby on a day-to-day basis. This New Man will never run out of nappies, now, will he? Thus it was discovered that the post was a joke, poking fun at the silly requests one finds on Facebook.
Another post, this time had us all concerned and trying to help. Moira eventually joined the discussion, informing us that the profile was a fake. Why did she not do so immediately? The reply, to me, would be obvious. Moira has a life and was away from her computer. Honestly, the way some members think that our entire Admin do is sit and wait for posts, with nary a tea break is unbelievable. Thus the “woman’ on the fake profile allowed us to dance a merry dance of advice and comfort. Who wouldn’t, knowing that there was a young mother-to-be, worried sick that a Social Worker would be taking her baby away , because she kept pets at home.
Naturally mothers of babies and furry friends all gave their two cents worth. Francesca even mentioned my darling Pointe Four. Needless to say, we were both thrilled to have an honourable mention and the newspaper cutting is now laminated, the sentence highlighted in pink, and placed on the mantelpiece for visitors to see. Oh happy days.
Comment of the week!
“Last night 8pm a person was cycling. He was in d middle of the road in Bahar ic-Cahaq bahariccahaq and moved to the side to proceed to d coast road. He had no protective flashy wear and barely visible light. I always wonder why we hear, "a car run over "someone" .. What If that someone is d one who is negligent !!??”
Charlotte Vella posted the comment above and started a really good conversation going on The Salott. Someone replied: “Let's be fair...some drivers don't respect the runners/joggers/cyclists. I didn't have any problems with drivers while I was jogging but cycling is a whole new ball game. I always had lights. Some drivers won't wait for a clearing, which will allow the cyclist to avoid the car. The cyclist might get hit if he moves to a side before a clearing. Also...women in general have less respect for cyclists. God knows how many times I've heard cars speeding up behind me only to find out they're women. If I was driving a slow car, they would have waited...so why not a cyclist?
