“Don’t come into the Homework Room”
Come, sit with me. It has been an interesting week in The Salott. Many a time , topics are discussed to death, so it was a breath of fresh air to have something, well, shall we say, very much out of the ordinary. Extraordinary. Para normal ? The Sallotians were asked how a prospective buyer would know if the house they wanted to buy was indeed haunted. Some poked fun, while others confessed to have actually felt or seen something. The Salott came alive at the idea of death. Truth being stranger than fiction, the young lady was asked to find out if the truth of the matter was actually a haunted house, or the property negotiator wishing to purchase the place for himself. Maybe he had a better offer? It transpires that there is a house in Naxxar that is haunted and no one will buy it.It has been left alone, unoccupied for many years. No one will buy it as there are strange goings on. This post was not moved to Rubs Property. Not that I’m surprised. People buy and sell there. Haunted houses don’t sell- or do they. Through the thread , we learnt that there is call for houses such as these, and you can actually go on tour. Imagine that! Paying to have the heebie jeebies scared right out of you . Thanks, but no thanks. I think I’ll pass.
Another post , quite different from the rest, was David Thake’s. “ I think joint facebook accounts shout out trust issues…” he posted. Interesting topic of discussion, I thought. Also interesting was the fact that all who commented were , what I shall call, Facebook Singles. No one was part of a couple. There were no His Name/Her Name with His Surname/Her Surname or His Name/Her Name/Their Married Surname combos. Thus we never learnt what made them do it. After all , it’s Face-book , not Faces-book isn’t it? True some people have dogs, cats, flags and flowers as their profile pictures. Some have squeezed in an entire clan . But it was the names , or joint name, which was the topic of discussion. Join the thread in The Salott and give us your point of view, We are interested to hear it, most especially if you have one of those interestingly long, joined-at -the -hip type names. Unless a thread is closed by Admin, a continuation is always educational.
Education is always discussed in the Salott. This week it was all about telephone numbers at The Archbishop’s Curia, which boys school is better equipped for sports, and how relieved some were to have their little darlings in the school of choice, and what grades their offspring entered Church schools . Having only Pointe Four, I find reading posts in The Salott keeps me abreast with what our children ( and their parents ) do. It seems it is Ballot time. Soon it will be exams and carnival costumes and then Easter Holidays. One term is already over, Doesn’t time fly?! I follow all this with interest, but draw a line at homework. Last week I touched on the subject of posting on the proper pages. This week someone, incurring Moira’s wrath, suggested she set up a homework page. What would we call it, I wonder? The Klassi tal-Homework? That sounds just right, and would be in keeping with the rest of the RUBS rooms’ names. But Moira was not having any of it. She said, and rightly so, that spelling , especially in Maltese should be directed to the specific facebook pages, and that she had more than enough on her plate. The reply Moira was given left us raising our eyebrows. “Don’t come into the Homework Room “ Guffaws all round, from Moira too. Disbelief, at the sheer audacity , or was it crass stupidity of the person who came up with this reply, left us with jaws dropping onto our keyboards. Perhaps it is she who needs help, and not just with homework.
