‘Pajsaggi’ is the title of artist Joanne Fenech Portelli’s latest solo exhibition which will run from 9 to 20 of February at the Wignacourt Museum in Rabat, Malta.
This collection of paintings will showcase sixteen Maltese and Gozitan landscapes, of which subject and medium vary from oil to watercolour to pastel. In the artist’s words, landscape painting is one of her favourite subjects, because it is through the depiction of the natural scenery of the moment that she can convey a message of colour onto the canvas or paper, thus portraying the beauty of God’s creation that surrounds us. It is in her landscape studies that she tries to depict the sense of awe that she feels when painting such scenes. Joanne has been exhibiting personally and collectively since 2003, and has taught Art in various local schools for twelve years.
