Twelve days after the deadline for MPs to hand in their declarations of assets came and went, Home Affairs Minister Manuel Mallia is the only MP yet to file his declaration, as of yesterday.

Last year, Dr Mallia had claimed over almost €500,000 in cash in his ministerial declarations, which is separate from the declarations that all MPs have to file.

Ministers Konrad Mizzi, Michael Farrugia and Helena Dalli have all now filed their declarations.

Dr Mizzi has €263,249 in the bank, down from the €341,713 he claimed in his ministerial declarations last year.

Dr Mizzi has a loan of €338,000 and two properties, one in Sliema and one in London.

No properties were declared in his spouse, Sai Mizzi’s name.

Social solidarity Minister Michael Farrugia has five properties that are either part or full-owned in his name, and €25,862 in the bank.

Civil liberties Minister Helena Dalli claimed no properties in her name, but two in her spouse’s name.

She has €19,107 in the bank and a number of shareholdings.

The stand out declaration of those filed in the past week in terms of thoroughness is that of Gozo Minister Anton Refalo.

Dr Refalo not only listed the ownership of his properties, 15 in all, but also declared his and his wife’s earnings for the previous year.

Dr Refalo has €13, 870 in a cheque account, and a loan of €812, 483.

He claimed €46,606 from government earnings, with his wife earning a further €19, 437. He earned €13,500 from rent, €23,000 from the sale of a property.
