Popular Italian singer and song-writer Pino Daniele has passed away aged 59 apparently after suffering a heart attack during the night. His death was first announced by long-time friend Eros Ramazzotti and was later confirmed by his manager, Ferdinando Salzano.
Mr Daniele was best known for Nero a Meta’ and Io per lei. Tributes from fellow musicians, including Ramazzotti and Laura Pausini, have been flowing in.
Pino Daniele was born on 19 March 1955. His work varied from pop, to blues, jazz, Italian and Middle Eastern music. His debut in the Italian music scene came in 1977 with the album Terra Mia. His greatest commercial success was the 1989 album Mascalzone Latino. His latest album, Passi d’autore, was released in 2004.
