The Nationalist Party today said that Muscat’s references to the Opposition’s anti-obesity law were insulting.

Speaking in Santa Lucija yesterday evening, Dr Muscat said the anti-obesity law was positive but at the same time referred to it as "a law on fat." In the time it took the PN to come up with a law on fat, he said, the government reduced energy tariffs, introduced free childcare, reduced income tax and stamp duty and turned the economy into a thriving one.”

The PN today decried the way in which the PM had tried to “ridicule” the anti-obesity law and accused him of trying to make fun of obese people.

“Muscat has not realised that this law is the first one of its kind in Europe and was praised by many experts, including Dr. Gauden Galea, a director of the World Health Organisation.”

The only fat things, the PN said, are the pockets of Muscat’s friends, including Konrad Mizzi’s wife, Cyrus Engerer and the majority of Labour MPs, who have more than one source of income.”

The party said Joseph Muscat should apologise for his behaviour.
