All the investments that have come to Malta so far are shrouded in different levels of mystery as agreements and contracts are kept under wraps, Labour MP Marlene Farrugia writes.
Posting on Facebook in reaction to Finance Minister Edward Scicluna’s statement urging people to see the bigger picture and welcome all investments, Dr Farrugia said that most of the investments “are mostly gobbling up priceless Maltese sites or countryside in unknown quantities under unknown conditions, and unbacked by social impact assessments and the list of other relevant studies, or seem to be in the hands of investors of doubtful repute like Gasol or Huawei.
“We welcome investment that does not divest our country of its dignity, its reputation, or its priceless natural, cultural and historical heritage,” she wrote.
“And, yes, any responsible citizen, and Member of Parliament has a right and duty to question what is happening to Malta's silver, and how and why and what's in it for present and future generations,” she concluded.

In another post, she writes that the gross mishandling of Dr.Sai Mizzi's appointment to serve the Maltese Government has exposed this woman to unnecessary abuse.
It is our incompetent government who hired her covertly and extravagantly in the full knowledge of the public outcry which would be directed towards her, who should be reprimanded, not this mother who goodness knows what was promised to her and seems to be treated as another pawn in this 'feminist' government's hands, she said.
