The Security Service received 1,075 security clearance requests in 2013, the national security committee’s annual report revealed.
The report for 2013, and dates March 2014, was tabled in Parliament this evening by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.
The National Security Committee has reported that in 2013 the Security Service strengthened its relations with foreign intelligence agencies and was very active in the fight against drug trafficking, the terrorism threat, organised crime and irregular immigration.
It also stated that there has been increased cooperation with foreign security services, including in Libya.
