The UHM today hit out at Malta Freeport Corporation's management over the manner in which it is conduction the union recognition process.

In a press statement, UHM said Malta Freeport’s management is doing its utmost to try and accommodate the GWU, so much so that GWU officials are seen roaming the corridors during the verification process.

The UHM said it is not the first time that it has protested against the way in which management and the government are doing their utmost to accommodate the GWU during the recognition process.

Since the March 2013 election, the Freeport has increased its workforce by 16 per cent, and said workers were given clear instructions to make sure GWU is the recognised union.

The UHM said the GWU is clearly close to the government, and said it will be withdrawing from the recognition process.
