The Jordanian investors are happy with the way their idea of building a university in Malta will be implemented, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said today.

Although the Sadeen Group had expressed themselves in favour of having one campus for the American University of Malta, the “division” of the campus between Zonqor Point in Marsascala and Dock Number One has satisfied them, he added.

Only Opposition Leader Simon Busuttil seems to be unhappy with the project, he said.

Dr Muscat was speaking after touring Dock Number 1 in Cospicua, the site where part of the campus will be located. The visit came one day after the government announced that the university will not be located in its entirety at Zonqor Point, as was originally planned.

He admitted that there are parking issues that need to be dealt with because the Cottonera area is congested.He did not indicate when the University will be opening its doors since the planning process is independent from government. "There's a planning process and the ball is in their court now to submit the applications," Dr Muscat said, referring to the investors of the project.

Dr Muscat said that he was happy for the people of the south, in this case the people of Cottonera and Cospicua. A number of Cospicua residents accompanied Dr Muscat during his tour of the Dock No. 1 site.
