Four persons are in critical condition after they were injured in a traffic accident in Mikiel Anton Vassalli Street, Swieqi, early this morning, the police said.

A bus, driven by a 68-year-old man of Msida in the direction of St Julian’s was involved in a head-on collision with a Toyota, driven by a 24-year-old woman of Qormi.

There were four passengers in the Toyota, two men from Spain and Romania, and two women from Slovenia and Poland.

The Maltese woman, Spaniard, Polish woman (aged 26) and Slovenian woman (aged 19) are in critical condition, the police said.

The police later said that the condition of the Maltese and Slovenian women improved. The Romanian man did not suffer injuries whule the 68-year-old driver is still undergoing hospital treatment.
