Following media reports that Nationalist MP Francis Zammit Dimech is to face charges over a death of a worker on the site of the Seabank Hotel, Dr Muscat asked whether he should be made to resign.

“The Opposition had asked for Minister Owen Bonnici’s resignation over a simple traffic accident. But would it use the same yardstick now? “ he questioned during a telephone call on One Radio this morning.

In 2012, a Latvian man had died during the construction of the hotel in Mellieha.  Dr Zammit Dimech was at the time director of Seabank Hotels and Catering Limited and is one of the eight people to face charges for involuntary homicide.

 PN reacts

In a reaction statement, the PN said that if Dr Muscat wants to be taken seriously he should first take action against Minister Owen Bonnici, who injured a man while driving,  Michael Falzon for signing a deal with Gaffarenaas well as Chris Cardona, Ian Borg, Anton Refalo and Helena Dalli – all involved in separate scandals.

It said that Dr Muscat should also take action against head of prisons Ray Zammit, who was involved in business with Gaffarena.
