A director of a gaming company operating in Malta has been ordered to pay €12,000 after failing to pay the licences due.
24-year-old Liliana Kowalczyk, from Poland, was yesterday charged with failing to pay the licence fees, renewal fees and other administrative fees and also failing to pay the relevant tax.
Orient Play Limited, of which Ms Kowalczyk is director, was due to pay €41,000 in gaming tax and licence fees to Malta Gaming Authority.
The Authority had already imposed an administrative fine of €11,000 and chose not to initiate court proceedings immediately, allowing time for the company to pay its dues.
Ms Kowalczyk pleaded guilty to all charges brought against her.
Magistrate Galea Sciberras presided while Police Inspectors Sean Scicluna and William Scicluna prosecuted.
