Government monitoring case of Maltese man arrested in Libya for using rival faction’s visa

The government is monitoring the case of a Maltese man who was arrested in Libya on arrival for travelling to Labrak using a visa issued by the rival government.

The man is currently under arrest in a Libyan prison.

The government said it is in constant contact with the man’s family.

Another person accompanying the man may also have been arrested, but it not believed to be a Maltese national.

The government pointed out that the man went to Libya contrary to official travel advice, and urged caution from all sides in order for the case to be resolved.
