A Maltese man has pleaded guilty to the theft €950 from Francis Service Station on 23 August.
The court heard how Patrick Pullicino, 21 from Xghajra, cooperated with the police, repaying the sum stolen and also turned in the clothes and balaclava he wore during the theft.
Magistrate Charmaine Galea handed him a probation order for three years.
Lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri appeared for the defence, and inspector Spiridone Zammit prosecuted.
