Simon Busuttil and the opposition are trying to damage Malta's reputation with the European Commission, a PL statement read.

The PL compared what the PN is currently doing with the European Commission, regarding the Electrogas power station, with the PN's actions regarding the citizenship scheme.

"PN MEP David Casa attempted to create doubts within the European Commission regarding the temporary bank guarantee, even though Fitch said a few days ago, that the risk of the guarantee from government is reducing".

"Today, the people know how the PN government used to hand out guarantee on debt, while this government gave a guarantee on a new power station, that will benefit the Maltese and Gozitan people through cleaner air".

The PL statement went on to read that the PN is trying to create problems as they could not reduce the energy tariffs themselves, and "that they have no credibility in the energy sector".
