The Parliamentary Secretary for Health today said that NGOs have an important role to play in the health care sector, notwithstanding the government's role.
Mr Fearne said a national conference for all NGOs operating in the health care sector will organised this year in order to streamline their contributions.
Mr Fearne was speaking during the presentation of a foetal ultrasound probe, which was part ‐financed by the NGO Beating Hearts.
The probe will allow doctors to identify potential problems before a baby is born.
Around 25 to 30 babies a year a born with heart problems, Mr Fearne said.
