PL MP Manuel Mallia challenged PN MP Francis Zammit Dimech in Parliament to open his own court case against Gaffarena, while PN MP Francis Zammit Dimech was highlighting certain issues with the recent case filed by the prime minister against Marco Gaffarena.

The PN MP mentioned that the Prime Minister opened a case against the Lands Department in his name as a Member of Parliament, thus filing a case against himself. The Lands department falls under the Prime Minister's ministry.

In response to Dr Mallia's comment, Dr Zammit Dimech argued that government made a mess of the case and it should be their responsibility to clean it up.

He argued that the media uncovered the Gaffarena scandal, and not government.
