A funny, edgy and moving drama double bill

Monday, 25 April 2016, 14:37 Last update: about 9 years ago

On Sunday 1 May, four members of Teatru Manoel Youth Theatre (TMYT): Becky Camilleri, Tina Rizzo, Anton Saliba and Gianni Selvaggi will be performing a double-bill of extended excerpts from the two plays; Lungs by Duncan Macmillan and Disco Pigs by Enda Walsh.

Becky Camilleri and Gianni Selvaggi perform excerpts from Duncan Macmillan's "Lungs" described by the UK's The Guardian as "a distinctive, off-kilter love story which is brutally honest, funny, edgy and current." It is a smart and funny drama that follows a couple through the surprising lifecycle of their relationship, as they grapple with questions of family and change, hope, betrayal, happenstance, and the terrible pain that you can only cause the people you love.

Anton Saliba and Tina Rizzo perform excerpts from Disco Pigs by Enda Walsh, described by the (UK) Independent: "The exquisite, knuckle-gnawing agony of teenagehood is inhabited in Enda Walsh's brilliant early play which is a raw exploration of two young minds and bodies, plagued by their own inexperience, who relish destruction."

TMYT forms part of Toi Toi (Teatru Manoel's educational programme) and falls under the tutelage of theatre practitioner Denise Mulholland. The TMYT troupe combine their own devised work while exploring various theatrical techniques.

This funny, edgy and moving drama double bill takes place on Sunday 1st May at 3pm and 8pm in Teatru Manoel's Studio Theatre, 81 Old Mint Street.  Capacity is limited so it is advisable to book early from www.teatrumanoel.com.mt , [email protected] or 2124 6389.
