Last March, the APS Social Activities Committee organised a staff dress down day to raise funds in aid of Reaching Cambodia.

Over €700 were raised and will be used to sponsor Reaching Cambodia's haircuts project for the next 12 months.

On a monthly basis, Cambodian children coming from poor communities in Phnom Penh are provided with a free haircut with the aim of improving their health as well as their appearance. This initiative, which sees around 1,000 haircuts given each year, also helps to control head lice.

Reaching Cambodia is a local voluntary organisation that was set up in 2013 to deliver the basic necessities of life to poor communities while embracing their culture.

"Getting a haircut is something we take for granted. For these children, however, it is an opportunity to feel better as well as fare better in terms of their hygiene. We couldn't have chosen a more worthy cause to support," said APS Bank Social Activities Committee member, Janice Harvey (in photo on the right).

Donations to the organisations can be made via SMS donation or bank deposit.
