Gozo Minister Anton Refalo has set up a Management Committee in order to oversee the newly restored Citadel in Victoria.

Progressing according to the Citadel’s master plan, the Committee is first and foremost prioritising maintenance and restoration works – both in areas which see high numbers of tourists as well as more significant areas which require upkeep over time.

The committee will have the competence to oversee the Citadel, primarily as a tourist-site, as an area for cultural and artistic activities and lastly as an internationally recognised site of world heritage.

The committee is made up of representative from the Gozo Ministry, from the Cultural Centre, from the Citadel’s Visitor Centre, the Malta Tourism Authority, the Gozo Tourism Association, the police, the Gozitan Cathedral Administration, Wirt Ghawdex, the Gozo Business Chamber and security officials employed site – under the presidency of Dr Joe Vella Gauci, a permanent delegate and ambassador of Malta for UNESCO.
