After last's year successful exhibition of niches and statues around Żejtun, the Żejtun Organisation to Empower You (ŻOEY) will be hosting an exhibition 'It-Tinqixa' - about architecture and sculpture around the historic streets of Żejtun.
The exhibition will be held between Friday 23 and Sunday 25 September, 2016 at the Arts and Crafts Centre, St Gregory's Street Żejtun. The official opening will be held next Friday 23 September at 7pm. The exhibition will be open also during the event Żejt iż-Żejtun. Entrance is free of charge.
Those that will be visiting the exhibition in such a beautiful and historic place will be able to appreciate carvings in stone or wood around the historic streets of Żejtun. In Żejtun one can find various beautiful houses around the Urban Conservation Area, in squares, alleys, curved and grid streets.
Monumental buildings and architectural houses which goes back to decades and centuries. One can find most of the building in Bisqallin (Lower Village), Ħal Bisbut and Ħal Ġwann (Upper Village). Elegant houses that were built during the colony of the Knights of St John to the British Empire. Other buildings in baroque style, classic, neo-Gothic and nouveau. Various religious carving such as the roundel of Eucharist and of the Crucifix. After each carving there are historical stories of noble families that one can find more about them during this exhibition.
Żejtun Organisation to Empower You (ŻOEY), is a voluntary organisation runs especially by youths, which works mostly in favour for the preservation and appreciation of culture, tourism and education. Those that have an interest in these aspects can join this organisation.
