Filmmakers are often asked the broad question: Why make a short film? as they don't necessarily translate to fame and fortune. However, when it comes to short films, the game is changing. Over the past six years, the number of short film narratives available has exploded and opened up new pathways for rising filmmakers. Short Films under the Stars celebrates how short film cinema is now at the centre of innovative storytelling, with new directors making their first mark in the filmmaker's playground with new ideas and new filming techniques. Thousands of shorts are created across the world every year, and as time passes there isn't a better time to produce a short film as its becoming a frequently watched medium. Short Films under the Stars champions independent productions from across the world. Great short films continue to be made and these films don't necessarily get to cinemas or TV. We believe that this festival is the ideal place for such productions and is an important alternative distribution and exhibition platform. This is the film event where the audience is given the opportunity to vote for the best film.

This event is being held at Villa Bologna (behind San Anton Gardens) on Friday, 7 October at 7.30 pm in collaboration with Palatino Camilleri Wines, Villa Bologna and Euro Media Forum.

Entrance to the Short Film under the Stars event is €10 and includes a glass of wine and popcorn.

Bus numbers to Villa Bologna, St Anthony Street, Attard: Bus numbers 54 and 106 stop at the start of the road, just a few minutes' walk from the villa. Alternatively, the X3 between Bugibba and the Airport stops in front of San Anton Gardens, Attard. Villa Bologna is just behind San Anton Gardens and is a five-minute walk away.

Driving to Villa Bologna, Attard: Please follow the signs to Attard and San Anton Gardens, then drive along Birbal Street and onto San Anton Street and you'll see Villa Bologna. Parking is usually available just outside the villa.
