The Christmas Market at San Anton School - an annual a festive fun day out for the whole family with a difference that also raises funds for the school - is being held today between 10.30am and 05pm. Entrance is free of charge.
Wooden stalls have been set up, where visitors will find everything you need for a perfect Christmas, from traditional decorations, gift-wrapping, home accessories. giftware, jewellery, wooden toys, advent calendars, poinsettia and holly plants, chocolates, children's gifts, toys, gourmet foods, spices, festive treats, home-made jams, chutneys and many more original gifts and stocking fillers to impress your friends and family.
While wandering around the market, the organisers guarantee an aroma of warm mulled wine, traditional Maltese imbuljuta, roasted chestnuts and freshly baked mince pies.
The final touches have been applied to Santa's Grotto, where the little ones will be able to meet the "real" Santa Claus while children rehearse their respective roles for the live crib.
A wooden stable has been purposely built for the crib in the school picnic area under a large carob tree. With the support of local farmers this stable will also house live sheep, lambs and, of course, a donkey on the day itself to transform the area into a typical nativity scene.
Children visiting the market will be spoilt for choice - they can write their letter to Santa, participate in Christmas arts and crafts activities, story-telling and baking workshops. The little ones will also be delighted with the bouncy castles and go-cart track in the play area.
In order to ensure the festive spirit, all those present will be treated to a performance by the cast of this year's Christmas Panto - 'Unbelieve it' by the MADC. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the actors and purchase tickets for the production.
