A new design haven has opened in Attard, retailing products by international creative trailblazers including Tom Dixon, Ferm Living, Gubi, Jield and &Tradition, as well as exciting local brands Carla Grima, Stephanie Borg and Tettiera.
"I set out to create a space dedicated to design and beautiful things," says interior architect Enrika Pizzuto, who launched the store last month. "I struggled to find the items that I wanted for my own projects, so that provided the impetus for me to launch Eclecticist. The result is a collection of artists' work and products that I admire, all of which have been handpicked from across the world and which are now availably exclusively in Malta."
The store, which is centrally located on Pitkali Road in Attard, retails dynamic collections of fashion, fashion accessories, furniture, home accessories, art, stationery, and gourmet foods. Even the chosen name, Eclecticist, is synonymous with the treasures you can find inside. "This is a space that embraces timeless design and pieces that never go out of style. They're fun, exciting and excellent conversation starters," the show owner says with a smile.
Ms Pizzuto explains that she has been passionate about design, and particularly Scandinavian design, for a long time, and that this project has been in active development for over a year. "Now that we are open I am thrilled by the response we've received, as clients seem genuinely wowed by our range and the outlet itself. They find that the varying price points and the sheer range of products on offer makes it easy and enjoyable to shop for different gifts in one place. This kind of feedback is exactly what we hoped for, and I look forward to adding many more iconic pieces in the weeks and months to come."
With that in mind, Eclecticist recently unveiled its first Christmas collection, which is in store now. Like many of the items in the shop, this series is inspired by a Scandinavian aesthetic, thus bringing something completely different to the local market.
Eclecticist is open daily from 9am to 1pm and 4 to 7pm.
