The Ministry for Education and Employment is organising 'I Choose' events for the third consecutive year in Gozo, through which Gozitan students are given an opportunity to gain information to plan their career path and learn more about which courses are available after Year 11 (Form 5).
This is a continuation of a series of initiatives and programmes geared towards both students and their parents during obligatory schooling. The purpose of this event is to introduce different career options from various educational institutions such as Sixth Form, MCAST, the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS), and the University of Malta, among others. Individual attention is key and during the event, Career Guidance Practitioners are available for one-to-one student guidance sessions.
A number of discussions on various careers will be delivered by speakers and professionals from different employment sectors. Although this event is open to anyone who wishes to obtain information about different types of educational paths, 'I Choose' is particularly targeted towards all Gozitan Year 10 (Form 4), Year 11 (Form 5) and post-secondary students who in the near future will be making critical decisions about their future careers.
During a visit held during the 'I Choose' event, Minister for Education and Employment Evarist Bartolo and Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana praised the Gozitan students and their parents for the interest shown, who along with the organisers from different educational institutions provided guidance and direction to better further their education aimed at building their respective careers.
Minister for Education and Employment Evarist Bartolo spoke about our youths' aspirations, who need to be treated individually as every individual has different qualities that translate into many potentials and talents. The government is focused on continuing to work to ensure students are directed to their desired educational path, leading to an achievable successful career goal.
Gozo Minister Caruana stressed the importance of educational guidance for our youths as well as the importance of the choices they make during this time of their lives. She added that all educational institutions in Malta have some type of representation in Gozo and that this is an advantage for Gozitan students who want to choose a career for their future.
The same event will be repeated over the next weekend spread over two days and targeting Maltese students. Doors will be open on Friday 6 July from 4pm to 8pm, and on Saturday 7 July from 9am to 5pm at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.
