The girl with an autistic brother

Noel Grima Monday, 3 July 2017, 15:12 Last update: about 10 years ago

Kelsey is a 15-year-old girl who has come to believe that her autistic brother is seriously hindering her from enjoying life as it should be.

Her brother is not the only problem that Kelsey has. Since her grandfather died, she has started to go and sleep with her grandmother but lately this elderly woman has started showing signs of impending dementia.

One might say these experiences form part of Kelsey's maturing years.

What keeps her sane is her small group of friends who have begun to meet daily in a room set aside for them by a generous village band club. There friendships flourish even if things are not always smooth.

Her education to life as a mature person continues vicariously through her friend whose parents are splitting up. Even so, Kelsey was completely unprepared to learn a deeply-hidden secret about herself that completely changes her outlook.
