Gozo's Gaulitanus Choir is currently in Sicily participating in Puccini's opera La Boheme. The two productions, scheduled in the current edition of the Festival Belliniano, are being held at the splendid Teatro Antico of Taormina this week.

La Boheme is an Italo-Maltese-Chinese production. The 48-strong adult chorus, led by Gaulitanus founder-director Colin Attard, will feature along with the Biancosuono children's choir from Messina led by Agnese Carrubba. An international cast will be accompanied by a Chinese orchestra conducted by Li Xincao.

While this should be the first time that a Maltese choir is participating in an operatic production abroad, this venture is an offshoot of the ongoing collaboration between Gaulitana: A Festival of Music and the Assocazione Festival Euro Mediterraneo.

The opera, directed by Enrico Castiglione, is being televised in several countries and screened in cinemas worldwide.
