University of Malta’s Faculty of ICT annual exhibition event

Monday, 10 July 2017, 13:06 Last update: about 10 years ago

The University of Malta's Faculty of ICT marks an important and by now familiar event in its calendar ‒ the annual Faculty of ICT exhibition coupled with the Dean's List Awards ceremony.

This year, President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca will be officially opening the event on 13 July. Work developed by the Faculty's undergraduate final year students and awards acknowledging academic achievement will be showcased. Throughout the academic year, the Faculty frequently hosts and organises various events, seminars, talks and visits, as well as conferences both exclusively and in collaboration with other entities.

This year's FICTeX will be exhibiting around 80 projects, which relate to various aspects of ICT. These projects are from various fields of study - touching upon, but not limited to, such themes as genome modelling and data science, game technology, information analytics, assistive and adaptive technologies, image and video analysis and processing, formal contract analysis, programme execution verification, body monitoring, wearable devices, flow management and transport systems, security and surveillance solutions, testing, visualisation, health and wellbeing, speech processing, programming paradigms, entertainment, embedded systems and chip design, system modelling, social media and tools, mobile technologies, video transmission, financial tools, hardware interfacing, user experience and many other areas.

As is the spirit and intent of the Faculty, the exhibited projects are a mixture consisting of work that has a more readily discernable applicative nature and other work that has a more fundamental and conceptual nature. However, whatever the focus, all projects exhibit a channel towards practical usefulness.

The ICT projects exhibition will be open to the public on Friday, 14 July between 5 and 8pm at the Faculty of ICT, University of Malta Msida Campus. Prospective students are reminded that the Faculty will be organising an informal lounge-around event where they may informally chat with Faculty academic and administrative staff. This will take place on Monday, 17 July starting at 11am.

More details may be obtained from the Faculty's Facebook page www.facebook.com/uom.ict
