Earlier this month, Antoinette Schembri, who is currently reading a Ph.D in education at the University of Warwick, was chosen by the Centre of Educational studies to represent  Warwick University at the post-graduate winter school held by Monash University. Both the University of Warwick and Monash have forged an alliance for the exchange of students and projects.

Whilst there, Ms Schembri participated in an educational conference where she read a paper on alternative education in Malta. She had also the opportunity to attend seminars and to meet and discuss educational issues with Prof. J. Wilkinson. Jane Wilkinson is a household name in Australia in educational leadership in Australia. Prof. Wilkinson was extremely interested in the research that Ms  Schembri is currently undertaking because this falls within the remit of her research which is educational leadership for social justice.

The theme of conference was Developments in Education and Psychology. Ms Schembri's presentation was well received and very much appreciated by the audience to the extent that after the conference, the organizers asked her whether she would be interested to extend her research in alternative education to situations in Australia.

While there, Ms Schembri encountered researchers from the University of Hong Kong, the University of Gutenberg and also post-graduate students from the hosting university, that of Monash.

During her visit to Monash University, Ms Schembri also had a meeting with Professor Philip Chan who is in charge of the Monash Warwick Alliance.

Such experiences are very rewarding and Ms Schembri is looking forward to more collaboration with these institutions in the near future.
