The Partit Demokratiku removed a post on Facebook in which parliamentary secretary Julia Portelli Farrugia was described as a “village escort” minutes after it was uploaded, saying that the term is not representative of the party’s views.
In a statement, PD apologised in no uncertain terms for the use of the term “village escort” in relation to MP Julia Portelli Farrugia on its Facebook page.
The party takes full responsibility for its actions and those of its members. The person who uploaded the post has been reprimanded.
In comments to The Malta Independent, MP Godfrey Farrugia said that internal review has been launched. A board of inquiry has been set up headed by General Secretary and has been asked to revert with recommendations within 10 Days to Executive.
Earlier, the Labour Party had expressed its disgust at the way the PS has been described.
