Former minister to be charged with assaulting his son – reports

Monday, 28 January 2019, 13:17 Last update: about 6 years ago

Labour MP Anton Refalo, a former Gozo minister, is expected to be charged in court following an altercation with his son, reports in the media said.

Refalo allegedly assaulted his son after being informed by the father of his son’s ex-girlfriend over images that Refalo's son was sending via WhatsApp.

Serving as Gozo Minister between 2013 and 2017, Refalo is one of parliament’s longest-serving MPs, having first been elected in 1987.

He was frozen out of cabinet in the 2017 general election despite having obtained the highest number of votes of any candidate in Gozo, and last year he was made chairman of Heritage Malta.
