The Young Guardians of the Galaxy astronomy sessions are combined with the Superheroes in Science project principle, to engage students and instil an interest in the science of astronomy. The astronomy sessions combines the world of Marvel & DC Superheroes, Star Wars and Astronomy. Fasten your seatbelts as we are about to embark into a great adventure in space... You can become A Young Guardian of the Galaxy! Can we like Han Solo be frozen in carbonite? Are there aliens like Superman and Super girl from the planet Krypton? Can we achieve Star Wars hyper speed? Can the Iron - Man Suit become the next mode of interstellar travel? Fun facts about the evolution of space vehicles, latest news on space colonisation. Find out if we can build a hospital on Mars. The life cycle of a star like our sun ...and Krypton. The Superheroes of the Astronomy world are undoubtedly Galileo Gallilei, Isaac Newton, Copernicus and the more recent Stephen Hawking. Can alien life can exist and how different would it be from the diverse life on Earth, for e.g. Superheroes and Supervillains are intergalactic with their physiognomy adapted to their home planets. The evolution of space vehicles to effect interplanetary exploration from the first space race to the latest vehicles in the Mars project.
The sessions are aimed to inspire students into creating superhero/star wars themed projects with astronomy and interplanetary exploration as a basis. It is also meant as an introduction to the Superheroes & Star Wars in Science event taking place at Thursday 28th November 2019, Friday 29th November 2019, Saturday 30th November 2019, and Sunday 1st December 2019.
7 Sessions Package costs € 90. Participation is on a first come, first served basis.
Registration on Thursday 14th March between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Stella Maris College, Gzira. Entrance through Emmanuel Drive (back of school) Car parking is available.
