The 10th edition of the Malta Waste Reduction awards was organised by Wastserv. These awards give recognition to companies, organisations or individuals who participated and excelled in taking action to preserve our environment.

Eden Leisure Group scooped up the Awareness campaign category award for their Sand Sifting beach clean-up initiative that took place at Golden Bay last November together with a national campaign raising awareness about environmental issues. Micro plastics found in the sea and on the seashore are one of the most hazardous waste problems Malta faces. The company was also shortlisted for the Most Innovative Hazardous Waste Initiative category and Best Business Practice category.

Eden Leisure Group set up a Green Committee in July 2018 with the purpose of pushing the company to become more environmentally-friendly, to adopt greener practices, raise awareness among its employees as well as nation-wide, through its media.

Director of Operations, Kate de Cesare stated: "At Eden Leisure Group, we feel strongly about the plight of the environment and feel we should all be doing more on a personal and corporate level to make our immediate environment, country and planet a cleaner and healthier place to be. The Eden Leisure Group leads the way in hospitality and entertainment so why not lead the way when it comes to being environmentally-conscientious too."
