The Southern Regional Council launched the fifth edition of 'Festa Nar'. This is a very popular event both with locals and tourists, and for the first time this year 'Festa Nar' will be held over the course of two days; today, 10th of May in Birżebbuġa from 21:00hrs till 23:30hrs and tomorrow 11 May in Imqabba from 9 till 11.30pm.

11 firework factories will be participating on both days. "The fact that the 5th edition of 'Festa Nar' is, for the very first time, taking place over two days goes to show that this initiative has proven to be a success.

This is yet another result of our strategy, which aims to further ensure accessibility to the culture sector, which boasts an ever-growing cultural calendar for everyone", said Minister for Justice, Culture and Local Government Owen Bonnici. Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government and Communities Silvio Parnis said that this region is actively participating in strengthening tourism and maintaining the cultural traditions of our country so that they can be passed on not only to this generation, but also to future generations and can continue to flourish.

Silvio Parnis also said that this Government fully believes in the regional councils, in fact this year for the first time they will be given a direct allocation of more than €3 million. Furthermore, be means of the Local Government Reform we will see a radical change in regional councils.
