The European Union needs to be closer to citizens so as to reflect their needs, Opposition Leader Adrian Delia said on Thursday, while attending the EPP summit in Brussels.

The EPP summit was held in preparation for the EU council meeting, which is being held on Thursday and Friday.

The process to replace the EU’s top leaders is underway.

Delia said EPP candidate Manfred Weber is the ideal choice since the EPP won the largest support during last month’s EP elections. As such, the PN is supporting his bid for President of the European Commission.

European Council President Donald Tusk, European Parliament President Antonio Tajani, EPP President Joseph Daul and German Chancellor Angela Merkel also attended the summit.

Adrian Delia was accompanied by the PN’s International Secretary, Roselyn Borg Knight.
