A man and a woman were seriously injured this morning when they were hit by a car in separate accidents, the police said.

At 10.30am, a 63-year-old man of Mosta was hit by a Ford Transit driven by a 54-year-old man if Hamrun.

The accident happened in Ponsomby Street, corner with Triq Guzeppi Callus, in Mosta.

Twenty minutes later, an 83-year-old Italian woman was hit by a Mitsubishi car being driven by a 51-year-old man of Rabat.

The accident, this time, took place in Triq ix-Xatt, Msida.

Both pedestrians were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
