Alegria Flamenco Malta and Gozo recently celebrated the end of it's Scholastic Year with their annual Fiesta which was held at Bottegin Palazzo Xara in Rabat.

Students and Company dancers were kept busy throughout the year with syllabus, technique and choreography classes together with a few workshops by visiting Flamenco Maestros.  A group of dancers also attended the Festival de Flamenco held in Jerez de La Frontera, Spain, thus keeping our annual presence since the year 2000. This festival is a feast of courses, workshops and performances held over 2 weeks.

All the members of the Academy and members of Alegria Dance Company had reason to celebrate.  Students who attempted the Alianza Flamenca Assessments all succeeded in obtaining their Diploma.  In fact they were all praised for their high standard of rhythm and dance.

The highlight of the evening were the awards granted to the dancers for their excellence.  The 7 Awards went to : Helena Micallef - Award for Appreciation : Andrea Albig - The Young Achievers Award :  Laura Cutajar - The Alianza Flamenca Award ; Marissa Camilleri - Puerto Flamenco Award : Marelaine Mercieca - The Estrella Jerez Award : Brooke Debattista - The Dhalia Local Scholarship : Joanna Vella - The Comsec International Scholarship.  Two of the above awards will send 2 students for a course in Spain in 2020.

The members of the Academy will not be stopping throughout the summer with classes in preparation for their Academy Performance - Promesas - which will take place on November 23^rd and 24^th in Malta and December 7^th in Gozo.
