The art of nature

Tuesday, 12 November 2019, 09:49 Last update: about 5 years ago

Whilst the Mediterranean terrain was a core influence on Andrea Calascione's first solo exhibition back in 2018, 2019 was a year dedicated to experiencing life further afield. She found herself in unfamiliar surroundings which demanded an appreciation of these somewhat rare moments of solitude, fully immersed in nature. It is these experiences that have now inspired a series of works which form part of her latest exhibition 'Tierra.'

Andrea aims to distil the complexity of a landscape into its essence. Her artistic process involves a vigorous study and exploration of the natural environment, all the while striving to understand more deeply its formal vitality. She aims to capture the Earth through a process of simplifying and translating both its basic and chaotic elements into line, form and colour. The exhibited works invite viewers to get a sense of the mystifying beauty of nature as experienced in solitary moments of reflection.

The exhibition will be open for one day only on Sunday 17 November at Storeroom in Ta' Xbiex from 3pm till 11pm.
