The Planning Authority Board has approved the construction of a 15-storey tower in Ta' Xbiex.
The proposed tower is located on land in Ta' Xbiex along Testaferrata and Enrico Mizzi Street - very close to the dormant Metropolis development. The application will see the construction of a 15-storey business tower, as well as a 5-level underground car park.
Originally, the case officer had argued that the project should be refused, as the height of four basement garages was 30 centimetres below the minimum level required by law. On 9 April, the Planning board indicated their intention to overturn the refusal recommendation. The final board meeting was taken today, and the tower was approved.
The only board member to vote against the proposal was the NGO representative, Annick Bonello.
