A man has become the 12th victim of Coronavirus, the Health Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
On Saturday, an 86-year-old woman also died of the virus.
The man who died today, at Mater Dei Hospital, was also aged 86.
He tested positive on 24 August after being taken to hospital a day earlier. As is the procedure in hospital admissions, the man was given a swab test and it resulted to be positive,
He continued to be given treatment until he died this afternoon, the ministry said, adding that he was suffering other medical conditions.
The ministry expressed its condolences and urged the public to follow guidelines set by the health authorities.
The Malta Independent is informed that today’s victim is a relative of a healthcare worker employed at Mater Dei Hospital.
Nine of the victims of Coronavirus in Malta were men, three were women.
