Gatherings in private residences to be restricted to two households from today - Gauci

The number of households who can meet in a single residence has reduced from four to two, the Health Ministry said in a statement today.

Answering questions during a Times of Malta Q&A, Gauci stated that a legal notice will be issued today to further limit meetings in private households to just two households.

The exception is for workmen conducting works in a private property.

This will be enshrined in law, she said, and the authorities will investigate any reports which they will receive any take action where necessary. She urged everyone to be responsible in order to curb the spread of the virus.

This is an update to the recent measures which were announced last week, which saw the closures of schools and gyms, while people were limited to meet in groups of four outdoors.

They were announced over and above another set of measures introduced on 4th March 2021, which included that only four different households can meet in a private residence.

Last week, Malta registered the highest daily new cases since the start of the pandemic, with 510 daily new cases reported on Wednesday 10th March.
