Pharmacists have protested over government's statement, that pharmacies will not be involved in the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccines.
The Health Ministry had made this clear with The Malta Independent when it was contacted earlier this week.
The Kamra tal - Ispizjara Ta' Malta (Chamber of Pharmacists) has protested with the Minister for Health about the Government's statement reported in the TMI online report.
"The Government statement in this piece is an insult to the pharmacy profession which is reduced to a non-entity in the Covid-19 pandemic, when Government knows very well that pharmacists are providing an uninterrupted essential service to the health system and the population. It seems a decision has been taken that pharmacists are not responsible professions to store and dispense Covid-19 vaccines in the national vaccination strategy , 'nor will they in future' . So, not vaccinate either in future? Is this anathema? ... the opposite is hailed and supported and lauded internationally. We request that this statement is immediately retracted. It is an insult to Chamber, Pharmacists , Pharmacies and the Pharmacy Profession."
