The Nationalist Party can never be in favour of decriminalising abortion, Opposition Leader Bernard Grech said this evening.
He was reacting to the Private Members Bill presented in Parliament by independent MP Marlene Farrugia.
“The Nationalist Party believes in the most absolute way in life from conception to death and, as such, it can never be in favour of the decriminalisation of abortion,” he said in a social media post.
The PN, Grech said, is “in favour of measures that are in favour of everyone’s sexual health without endangering the life of the baby before and after birth.”

Farrugia’s Bill has been hailed as “historic” by pro-choice groups and described as “shocking” and “deceitful” by the pro-life lobby.
