Industrial action ordered by the Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses is affecting surgical interventions at Mater Dei Hospital, the government said Friday.

The industrial action was ordered in the department that sterilises medical instruments used in operating theatres.

The Health Ministry is holding discussions with the MUMN in the hope that the action is withdrawn as soon as possible.
