Delia’s show of force at Independence Day rally was ‘unacceptable' - Grech

PN Leader Bernard grech has described Adrian Delia's show of force at the Independence Day rally on the Floriana Granaries as 'unacceptable'.

Over 25 Delia supporters had arrived at the granaries wearing 'Team Adrian' T-shirts at the granaries, and Delia posted some selfies with them. The supporters reportedly made their presence felt during Grech's address at the event.

Asked by the press about Delia's show of force, Grech said that he hasn't spoken to Delia about it. "Today we have an obligation to give this country mature politics. I want mature and honest politicians, I have been saying that since day one. I will continue insisting that these types of actions are not acceptable. We are one party with one flag, one banner and so we need everyone to pull the same rope and send the same message - that we as one party are solely there in the collective interest of all the Maltese and Gozitan people."

Asked whether this was done to undermine his leadership, Grech said that he is not interested in what Delia's reasons or intentions were. "What interests me is that he and every MP and candidate look at the electorate with respect, as we are a single party there solely to provide a political service to the people."

Grech had beaten Delia in an internal election for the post of party leader last year, after Delia had had faced calls for his removal and internal conflict.
