Tiles that were intended to embellish the side of the road outside the Tal-Qroqq tunnels on the Regional Road have been dislodged by the rain.

The tiles, which were affixed at the entrances and exits to the tunnel as part of a rehabilitation project, had drawn criticism when they were installed.

It was love them or hate them, as many took to the social media to either defend the idea or reject it is a “hamallata”, with many comparing them to bathroom tiles.

But now it seems that there is more to it than just being an eyesore or pleasing to the eye.

Some of the tiles on the side of the road as one is going north have been displaced by the heavy rain that hit the islands in the past hours.

It’s clear that they did not withstand the first real “weather” test.
