Labour propagandist Manuel Cuschieri has warned Repubblika president Robert Aquilina that he will be taught “a lesson you will never forget” if the group tries to be arrogant with Joseph Muscat.

Cuschieri, a former president of the Labour Party, was reacting to Labour media reports about Aquilina’s presence near Muscat’s Burmarrad home while the police were conducting a search.

Reacting to the One News report, Aquilina confirmed on Facebook that he had indeed gone to Burmarrad to confirm that the raid was taking place. Repubblika, he pointed out, had filed a police report over claims that Muscat had received payments from a company linked to the hospitals privatisation deal.

He also gave “Robert Abela’s journalists” a scoop.

“On the day they arrest Joseph Muscat, I will be in front of the police headquarters to see him taken away in handcuffs. On the day they drag him to court, I will be in the courtroom to see him respond to the charges brought against him. On the day he is taken to prison, I will be there too, in front of the main door, and I will only leave after making sure that the door is shut with him inside.”

He said One News should tell its viewers to start preparing themselves “for the inevitable.”

Reacting, Cuschieri said Aquilina wanted to see Muscat go to prison only because he [Muscat] had taken away their power.

“May I remind this desperate person that if they try to taunt Muscat unjustly we will give them a lesson you will never forget. I will be there for sure. I am convinced you will not leave me on my own. If you think I’m joking, you’d better think again.”

This is not the first time that Cuschieri, who is describing the police search as a ‘political vendetta,’ has urged Labour follower to take matters into their own hands to back the former PM. Last week, he urged people to take to the streets in protest against the raid on Muscat.

A similar call was made by Labour media chairman and head of the Valletta Cultural Agency Jason Micallef
